Terms & Conditions
Last updated: January 2025
Overview
Dark Peak Performance (DPP) provides ECU remapping, diagnostic services, and VAG coding solutions from our mobile service based in the Greater Manchester area. These terms cover all services offered.
ECU Remapping Services
What We Offer
ECU remapping involves modifying your vehicle's engine control software to alter performance or efficiency characteristics. We work with proven mapping partners using OBD-II diagnostic protocols and dealer-level tools.
Safety & Compliance
- All remaps are tested on OBD-II diagnostic equipment before and after modification
- We use established, proven calibration files from trusted mapping partners
- Vehicles must pass pre-remap diagnostic checks without critical errors
- No modifications to emissions control systems (DPF, EGR, catalytic converters)
- The customer is responsible for ensuring the vehicle is roadworthy and insured
Warranty & Reversibility
- ECU remaps are fully reversible – the original software can be restored at any time
- DPP provides no warranty on remapping beyond successful file installation and pre/post-remap diagnostic verification
- Any damage to the vehicle is the responsibility of the customer; remapping does not cause engine damage if hardware is sound
- Customers should ensure adequate engine cooling and maintenance after tuning
Insurance & Legal
- You must inform your insurer of any ECU modifications – failure to do so may void your policy
- DPP is not responsible for insurance premium increases or claim rejections
- Remapping does not affect MOT eligibility provided emissions remain within legal limits
- Fuel consumption may change; advertised figures are not guaranteed
Diagnostic Services
What We Provide
We scan your vehicle's OBD-II system using dealer-level diagnostic equipment to identify fault codes, performance issues, and diagnostic data.
Limitations
- Diagnostics identify fault codes and sensor data – interpretation is guidance only
- Recommendations for repairs are not binding; final decisions rest with the customer
- We do not guarantee that fault clearing will resolve all symptoms
- Some issues require specialist workshop diagnosis beyond our mobile capability
Data Handling
- Vehicle diagnostic data collected during service is used solely for the purpose of analysis and customer advice
- Data is not retained longer than necessary for the service
- Customer personal data is processed in accordance with UK data protection regulations
Battery Coding & Electrical Services
What We Offer
Battery and electrical coding updates vehicles with new battery types and manage related electrical parameters.
Compatibility & Limitations
- Coding is vehicle-specific and model-dependent – we verify compatibility before service
- Not all battery types can be coded; we advise based on your vehicle's ECU capabilities
- We make no guarantee that coded batteries will prevent all vehicle warnings or sensor issues
- Software limitations may prevent complete warning removal on some vehicles
Warranty
- Battery coding is provided as-is with no warranty beyond successful file installation
- Customers are responsible for purchasing and supplying compatible batteries
- DPP is not liable for battery performance or durability
DPF & EGR Solutions
What We Offer
We provide ECU modifications to address DPF (diesel particulate filter) and EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) faults through remapping.
Emissions Compliance
- Modifications are designed to remain within legal emissions limits
- Customers are responsible for ensuring compliance with local and UK vehicle standards
- Vehicles must be capable of passing MOT emissions testing post-modification
- We do not remove or disable emissions hardware (DPF, EGR, catalytic converters)
Warranty Impact
- Manufacturer warranty may be affected by ECU modifications
- DPP is not responsible for warranty claim rejections
- We recommend customers inform their vehicle manufacturer of modifications
AdBlue & SCR Services
What We Offer
We manage AdBlue and SCR (selective catalytic reduction) systems through diagnostic coding and fluid management.
Consumables & Performance
- AdBlue is a consumable fluid that requires regular top-ups as per manufacturer specification
- SCR system performance is dependent on regular AdBlue availability and vehicle maintenance
- We provide no warranty on SCR system hardware or fluid consumption rates
- Customers are responsible for maintaining AdBlue levels and scheduled servicing
Emissions Compliance
Vehicles with SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) systems are strictly for off-road or track use only. It is the vehicle owner's responsibility to ensure compliance with local emissions laws. By using our services, you acknowledge that you understand and agree to these terms.
VAG Coding & Feature Unlocks
What We Offer
We provide VAG-specific coding to unlock features such as comfort functions, lighting settings, and comfort enhancements available within your vehicle's software.
Compatibility & Risk
- Feature unlocks are not guaranteed to work on all variants of the same model
- Hardware must support the feature (e.g., comfort modules, lighting controllers)
- Features may not function fully if hardware is missing or faulty
- Use of unlocked features is entirely at the customer's risk
Warranty
- VAG coding is provided as-is with no warranty beyond successful code application
- DPP is not liable for unexpected vehicle behaviour or electrical faults following coding
- Customers use unlocked features entirely at their own risk
- Manufacturer warranty may be affected; DPP is not responsible for claim rejections
